The iSHARE Trust Framework provides a standardised and interoperable approach for establishing trust between organisations in data spaces. It defines common rules, roles, and technical specifications for secure identification, authentication, and authorisation, enabling organisations to securely share and access data and services without requiring pre-established bilateral agreements. Key features include: Federated and decentralised trust: Enables organisations to participate in data spaces through trusted onboarding and verification processes, without requiring participants to pre-exchange authentication keys or maintain bilateral participant information. Open technical standards: Uses widely adopted technologies including W3C, DCP, ODIC4VC, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect 1.0, PKI, and digital certificates to support secure and interoperable interactions. Defined roles and responsibilities: Establishes clear roles such as: Data Rights Holder, Identity Provider,Authorisation Registry, etc , with defined responsibilities and functional requirements. Interoperable trust: Provides a common foundation for establishing and managing trust across organisations, services, and data-sharing environments. Secure data sharing: Supports controlled access to data and services by enabling participants to authenticate organisations and identities and determine whether access should be authorised. The iSHARE Trust Framework can be adopted as a trust layer for data spaces and data-sharing ecosystems, helping organisations establish secure and interoperable interactions.
